Non-state actors, such as civil society, local authorities, local communities, youth representatives and the private sector play an active role in the Africa-EU Partnership and its decision-making process.
Civil society is a key agent of change. Civil society organisations amplify the voices of people, defending their human rights and demanding that people’s concerns be addressed. It holds governments, public institutions and the private sector to account for their commitments.
However, civil society space is shrinking around the world, and Africa and Europe are no exception.
In a context of political shifts and attacks against civil society globally, this Cybercore programme aims to protect the "Cyberspace" dimension to remain as more FREE as possible and to promote civil society common space and enable civil society action around the world.
In the last years our team has been working to improve dialogue between civil society and Governments. However, we have been noticing a degradation in the quality of engagement at headquarters, delegation and regional level. As part of the Cybercore, advocating for more meaningful and inclusive participation is an endless and constant processes. It also works to contribute to the creation and empowerment of civil society engagement mechanisms at all levels.
